HUGE Parenting Moment

Chick has been asking me to wear "big girl panties" and "to go potty in the toilet like a BIG girl" for a few days. I had tried potty training her a few weeks ago and it didn't work. So I wouldn't let her wear the panties, but when I went out on a photoshoot Thursday I came home and she was wearing them (Hatcher was babysitting and is more easy going than me ; )). We had planned on a trip to Saint Michaels but canceled it last minute to stay home and potty train. And....

IT WORKED! She's a big girl now! No bribes and no charts (what we tried last time)...she just wanted to do it and me & Hatcher hovered over her all weekend watching for her cues. I didn't even lock us in the house, we had a lot of outings and she did great in public. Her first outing was to Gtown cupcakes and they are AMAZING! Needless to say we are so proud of her and are hoping it keeps going well so she'll be all ready for preschool at the end of the summer.

Here's some pictures of all of us hanging out on Saturday in our backyard. She was wearing pajama bottoms cuz they're easy to put on and off...and you can tell she put them on cuz she hiked them up super high. It was really sunny and she broke her "real" sunglasses so she was wearing her old infant ones and looked absolutely hilarious.

She didn't want to take pictures with me but Hatcher snapped this cute shot while she was running away...I love her hip action. And do you like our side walk chalk art?

The first pic she was yelling at someone "CUPCAKE!" I don't know why she looks angry.

One word. Happiness.

Woo hoo! YAY Vanessa! That is like the most awesome pottytraining story ever! You are just that awesome of a mom!

Love the cupcakes. Aren't the divine??? We keep making excuses to get them for "special occasions." Anytime you guys are in the mood again, let me know. I'm sure we can think up some excuse. ;)

Adoreable pics... as always. Congratulations on big girl panties, Nessa! When Jonas potty trained, I think that is something I'm going to reward myself for too! Way to go. The cupcakes look great-- that would make a nice reward :)

You make it sound so easy. I keep hearing that children will just do it when they are ready. I think I might take that approach with Sophia. Does this mean your trip is back on !? :)

Congrats on the potty training! That's a big moment. I was sitting here reading a new recipe book I have and one of them reminded me of that yummy bean salsa that your mom makes. You know the one with Italian dressing? Can I get that recipe from you? Now I am craving it like a mad woman!
